About JDE Marine

JDE Marine started up following a conversation between Steve Cockerill and John Dawson-Edwards at the Laser Master Worlds in Hyannis, Massachusetts, in 2002.  Steve was looking to enter the US market and John had storage space and an accounting system in Edmonton, Alberta. JDE Marine has sold Rooster products almost exclusively since then. With John's retirement (finally!) its time to close up shop.

The photo above is from the Fortaleza, Brazil, Laser Masters in 2005 where John and Steve both scored a 1 and 2 on one of the racing days. A typical result for Steve but one of John's best days ever on the water.  Both are wearing Rooster white rashguards, classic hikers and lycra overshorts.  Not seen are Rooster hiking boots.

About John:
John began sailing aged 12 crewing for his father and others in Merlin Rockets and Fireflys. He attended University of London and was both double handed and single handed champion in Fireflys in the late 1960s.  In 1968 he finally got his own boat - OK Dinghy K580.  He campaigned OKs through to 1974, and was 3rd in the 1973 Worlds and 6th in the 1974 Europeans.  In 1975 he switched to Finns and won races in both Hyeres and Kiel that year, managing 3rd overall in Kiel week (behind 2 other Brits unfortunately).  After bombing the 1976 trials he emigrated to Canada in 1977 giving up sailing until he found out about Laser Masters sailing in 1998.  One day he might actually take it seriously.
